Industry Code: 87402

Compulsory
Industry Custom Pricing - CR

This industry includes businesses operating coin operated laundromats which are establishments where clothes, linen, etc. can be washed and dried by using coin-operated machines.

Operation Details:

An attendant is often available at the laundromats to assist customers or to oversee the operations of the laundromat. The attendant's responsibilities include the maintainance and cleaning of the washers and dryers and ensuring the premises are clean. More specifically, the attendant may provide change, may fill soap and cleaning agent dispensers (i.e. coin-operated dispensers), etc.

Underwriting Considerations:

The following activities are often provided by laundromats and do not require an additional classification:
- 'bachelor services' where customers drop off soiled clothes for the attendant to clean, and
- a dry-cleaning drop-off service where clothes are dropped off at the laundromat and the clothes are sent away to a dry-cleaners.

Employers in this industry may sell confectionery items, may have coin-operated arcade games on the premises, and may rent videos; these activities, when incidental to the employer's overall operations, are covered in this industry.

Industry Custom Pricing: Waiving Cost Relief Option

This industry has chosen to participate in Industry Custom Pricing effective January 1, 2010. Costs related to the aggravation of a pre-existing condition will not be removed from the experience record of employers classified in this industry.
