Administer Out of Province Ops

Industry Code: 86921

Exempt

This industry pertains to employers whose operations are based in Alberta and are solely related to administrating business which is conducted entirely outside the province.

This industry is not to be used without consulting with Underwriting.

Operation Details:

Such operations are exempted under "Office staff" and operations in Alberta will be restricted to "head office" type functions such as management, clerical, accounting, etc. Such businesses will not provide goods or services for sale in Alberta and all physical operations must be conducted outside of the province. This industry does not allow for support operations in the province such as equipment repair, warehousing, delivery, etc.

Underwriting Considerations:

This industry will allow for occasional travel for head office personnel where coverage would be extended under Section 28. Should Section 28 coverage apply to individuals other than head office personnel, the business no longer qualifies for this classification and the entire business should be classified in the appropriate industry.

Businesses, which have Alberta operations in sectors such as transportation and oil and gas, will routinely have extraprovincial and international operations. Such businesses may have head office staff dedicated to supporting out of province segments of their business. In such cases, companies are not eligible for an additional classification for administration of an industry out of the province.
