These businesses may also operate warehouse facilities which are combined with a storefront for walk in trade contractors. This industry will allow minor assembly and modification of the products sold provided this is primarily with the use of hand tools and does not include ongoing welding or machining processes.

Companies specializing in oilfield supply may sell equipment such as separators, treater plants, pumpjacks, downhole tools, downhole pipe and production tubing. This industry does not include the installation of these products. There may be some after sale servicing of small engines, etc.

Hose assembly and repair includes supplying oilfield and industrial markets with hose. The attachment of connectors is an integral part of the service offered, including replacement of worn out or damaged sections of hose or connectors.

A number of oilfield supply stores specialize in the sale of valves and valve components. Painting, repacking, or greasing and testing of the product, with warranty servicing, are activities associated with this industry. Businesses which manufacture industrial gases, industry 37805, and operate welding supply outlets and/or respiratory therapy centres, will require an additional classification(s) for the welding supply shop and/or respiratory therapy outlets. Businesses which sell, service and/or install medical equipment, including respiratory therapy services are classified under industry 33901.

Companies which rent oilfield equipment are classified in industry 89910 and are generally typified by extensive repair services associated with the rental business.

Industry Custom Pricing: Waiving Cost Relief Option

This industry has chosen to participate in Industry Custom Pricing effective January 1, 2012. Costs related to the aggravation of a pre-existing condition will not be removed from the experience record of employers classified in this industry. In return, the portion of premiums collected to fund retroactive cost relief has been removed from the industry rate, resulting in a reduction in WCB premium rates for the industry.
