Industry Code: 62302

Compulsory
Industry Custom Pricing - CR

This industry includes businesses that sell, repair and service stationary equipment that is not more appropriately recognized or underwritten within another classification. Businesses in this industry may also provide repair services for products covered under warranty. This classification does not include businesses that manufacture.

Operation Details:

The types of equipment sold by businesses in this classification include stationary products such as vaults, scales, wood/metal-working power tools such as saws or lathes, as well as laundry, restaurant and janitorial equipment or industrial filters. Industrial filters are typically used in processing operations, refineries and gas plants.

Service and repair work is primarily restricted to the brands sold, and is usually done while the product is still within the warranty period. Delivery may be included and involves only the machinery/equipment being set in place. Installation is generally limited to bolting in place or plugging in the product and can be completed in a very short time.

Business selling restaurant equipment may also sell complimentary items and accessories, such as dishes, cutlery, menus, etc. The sale of complimentary accessories, parts and services is common within this industry.

Businesses may operate retail outlets and/or warehouse facilities and may include technical staff, laborers, delivery personnel, warehouse and/or store staff, marketing and office/administrative staff.

All employers in this industry are members of the Alberta Construction Safety Association (ACSA). Safety associations represent the interests of employers and promote workplace safety through education and other initiatives. Improved workplace safety can result in fewer claims and help lower premiums. A portion of premiums collected is allocated to the association to support these initiatives.

Underwriting Considerations:

When the equipment is such that installation requires extensive on-site installation activities by welders, millwrights, concrete pad installations, the business is classified in industry 42109, Stationary Plant Machinery Installation and Service.

Businesses which only sell and service commercial and industrial refrigeration equipment or similar mechanical systems are classified in industry 89600.

Industry Custom Pricing: Waiving Cost Relief Option

This industry has chosen to participate in Industry Custom Pricing effective January 1, 2013. Costs related to the aggravation of a pre-existing condition will not be removed from the experience record of employers classified in this industry.
