Packing/Crating - Custom

Industry Code: 51705

Compulsory
Industry Custom Pricing - CR

Businesses in this industry provide a custom packaging and/or crating service for unrelated companies or businesses.

Operation Details:

Custom packaging services can involve putting products into plastic containers, cans, drums, bags or cardboard boxes. Other goods or products, because of size or weight, may need to be crated. This involves nailing pieces of lumber together to form a crate.

During a packaging cycle only one product is packaged or introduced into the packaging line. When a new or different product is to be packaged, containers and/or labels must be changed. Once the product is packaged, it may be put into cardboard cases, boxes or pallets awaiting pick-up.

The packaging/crating service may be provided either manually or through a semi-automatic or highly automated process. Packaging firms may also print labels and sell packaging materials and accessories.

Underwriting Considerations:

Businesses that offer home and office packing services, in preparation for relocation, are part of the household/office moves in industry 50714.
