Bus Depots

Industry Code: 50802

Compulsory
Industry Custom Pricing - CR

This industry describes facilities that allow buses to load and unload passengers and freight.

Operation Details:

Bus depots may be owned by a bus line and leased to an agent/operator, or owned and operated by an agent under contract to the bus line. Bus depot operations include scheduling, baggage handling, ticket sales, and freight handling. These employers do not service or refuel buses, but may occasionally clean them.

Employers may utilize a warehouse/terminal facility, or an office only, or other marked area in another business or nearby location, and may employ clerks, baggage handlers, ticket sellers, janitorial staff, office/administration.

Underwriting Considerations:

In smaller centers, a bus depot may exist as part of another business such as a cafe, hotel or service station. In most cases, workers employed in the other business provide the occasional services required to operate the bus depot; when this occurs, the other business is deemed the major operation.

Industry Custom Pricing: Waiving Cost Relief Option

This industry has chosen to participate in Industry Custom Pricing effective January 1, 2010. Costs related to the aggravation of a pre-existing condition will not be removed from the experience record of employers classified in this industry. In return, the portion of premiums collected to fund retroactive cost relief has been removed from the industry rate, resulting in a reduction in WCB premium rates for the industry.
