Industry Custom Pricing - CR

This industry covers regular and charter commercial air services, both domestically and internationally.

Operation Details:

Underwriting Considerations:

Helicopter services are classified in industry 50107, Helicopter Service.

Extra-provincial or foreign-based charter flights are exempted by the General Regulations. This means that airlines with no base of operations in Alberta, offering charter flights, are exempt.

When businesses own their own aircraft and use this aircraft for their own business purposes, it is considered to be part of the business' overall operation and they do not require an additional classification.

Aircraft ground services such as baggage handling, refueling, overhauling engine/airframe, etc., when independent of an airline, are classified in industry 50200.

Industry Custom Pricing: Waiving Cost Relief Option

This industry has chosen to participate in Industry Custom Pricing effective January 1, 2009. Costs related to the aggravation of a pre-existing condition will not be removed from the experience record of employers classified in this industry. In return, the portion of premiums collected to fund retroactive cost relief has been removed from the industry rate, resulting in a reduction in WCB premium rates for the industry.
