This industry covers businesses that provide scheduled domestic and international commercial air service.

Operation Details:

All activities that an airline performs [i.e. ground support (ticket takers, baggage handlers, maintenance, etc.)] will be covered. This is an all inclusive type of industry.

Up until July 1996, the Canadian Transport Commission had separate classifications for scheduled domestic and international commercial air services as outlined below.

Class 1: Scheduled commercial air service is a service operated wholly within Canada and is required to provide transportation of persons, goods or mail. Class 8: Same as Class 1 except the service is provided between points in any other country.

Underwriting Considerations:

The operating of aircraft for the purpose of specialized flying service such as water bombing, crop spraying and aerial survey is classified in industry 50203, Flight Operations, Misc.

Aircraft ground services such as baggage handling, refueling, overhauling engine/airframe, etc., when independent of an airline, are classified in industry 50200.
