Operation Details:

There is an emphasis on electrical and technical expertise in the sales and installation or service of various electronic devices, such as, but not limited to:
· alarm/security systems
· public address systems
· intercoms
· mobile and two-way radio systems
· photo surveillance systems
· electronic teller machines
· card access systems and controls
· sound equipment (speakers, lights, mixing boards, etc.)
· video, VLTs and slot machines

Depending on the application, installation may be in residences, office buildings, institutions, warehouses, auditoriums, schools, stores/banks, vehicles, etc. Businesses in the alarm and security business may conduct inspections and make proposals on security protection services or equipment installations. Businesses in mobile and two-way radio communications may rent/lease, sell equipment and install transmitters and antennae to facilitate signal delivery.

Businesses may operate a warehouse and store-front, trucks, forklifts, and service facilities. Workers can include technicians, parts staff, drivers, warehouse staff, and security consultants.

Underwriting Considerations:

Security services, offering a response component which may involve trained and uniformed personnel, in conjunction with the sale/rental/installation of security systems, are classified in Security Services, industry 89902.

Businesses which only sell retail personal communication units (cell phones, pagers, etc.) and communication packages, exclusive of any sales of other communication systems or equipment, are classified in Office Equipment, Computers, Sale and/or Repair, industry 62300.

Businesses that sell automotive sound or security equipment, in conjunction with automotive parts and accessories, are classified in Hardware/Automotive Stores, industry 67300.

Industry Custom Pricing: Waiving Cost Relief Option

This industry has chosen to participate in Industry Custom Pricing effective January 1, 2012. Costs related to the aggravation of a pre-existing condition will not be removed from the experience record of employers classified in this industry. In return, the portion of premiums collected to fund retroactive cost relief has been removed from the industry rate, resulting in a reduction in WCB premium rates for the industry.
