This is a supply and install industry of suspended acoustical grid-type ceilings in residential, institutional and commercial settings.

Operation Details:

Metal/hard plastic 'T' bars are interlocked to form a grid system on the ceiling, ceiling tile is placed within. Additionally, acoustic materials may be specially designed panels, ceiling tiles or fixtures and can be bracketed, bolted, hung or placed free standing in rooms or buildings where sound control is desired. Businesses may utilize ladders, handtools, a truck and warehouse/storage facility, and may employ technical staff, laborers, sales/estimators, office/administrative staff.

All employers in this industry are members of the Alberta Construction Safety Association (ACSA). Safety associations represent the interests of employers and promote workplace safety through education and other initiatives. Improved workplace safety can result in fewer claims and help lower premiums. A portion of premiums collected is allocated to the association to support these initiatives.

Underwriting Considerations:

Incidental drywall work and plastering is permitted in this industry. Businesses primarily active in drywalling and plaster installing partition systems are classified in industry 42135.
