Metal Furniture - Mfg

Industry Code: 26401

Compulsory
Industry Custom Pricing - ER

This industry includes businesses that manufacture steel/metal furniture, mainly the type used in offices and schools, but it also includes stainless or galvanized steel cabinetry and brass-type or tubular fixtures used in elevators, restaurants, hotels, etc.

Operation Details:

The process involves cutting, forming, trimming, welding and bolting metal/steel to produce furniture and cabinets such as chairs, tables, benches, etc.

Once the furniture's frame is completed, it is usually finished by coating it with a powder coating or baked on epoxy. Tubular components are most often chromed by others. The painted product may then be upholstered (chair back and seats). This upholstering process is either done in-house or subcontracted out to others. The finished product is then warehoused until sold or shipped to the purchaser.

The equipment used includes welders, shears, brakes, forming machine, etc.

Underwriting Considerations:

The upholstering of this type of furniture is considered part of this industry, when done in conjunction with the manufacturing.
