Rope/Carpet - Mfg/Repair

Industry Code: 21300

Compulsory
Industry Custom Pricing - CR

This industry includes businesses that manufacture carpet or rope.

Operation Details:

Cord or rope is made of nylon or polypropylene filament. The filament is wound on bobbins, and goes through braiding machines that make the cord. The machines are all automatic, with the operator placing the bobbin on and turning on the machine. Employers can also receive cotton twine in large bales, and rewind it into smaller balls or cords for resale. The rope or cord produced is usually sold on a wholesale basis.

Carpet manufacturing involves a continuous machine process whereby yarn fibers are machine-woven into a nylon backing material. The weaved material then goes through a dye processing machine, after which it is fed into a gas dryer to be dried. The dried material is fed through a finishing machine where it is cut to size, sewn, a latex bond is applied to the back, followed by the application of a jute backing. The carpet is then fed automatically to a machine that rolls and packages it. Forklifts and carts are used to transfer the carpet between the various weaving, dyeing and drying stages of production.
